Let AI recommend product collections to your customers by syncing and managing collection data from your Shopify store.
What are collections in AI training?
Collections are groups of products from your Shopify store (e.g. "Summer Sale", "Best Sellers", "New Arrivals"). When synced to Chatty, AI can reference these collections to suggest relevant product groups when customers ask questions like "What's new?" or "Show me your sale items."
Why use collections for AI training?
Without collection data, AI can only recommend individual products. It cannot suggest curated groups or categories your store already has.
By syncing collections, your AI assistant can:
- Suggest relevant collections when customers browse or ask for recommendations
- Share collection details (title, description, number of products)
- Link customers to specific collections on your storefront
- Provide more complete answers about your product catalog

How collections work
Syncing collections from Shopify
Chatty pulls your published collections from Shopify automatically. Collections sync daily alongside your product data, so any new or updated collections in Shopify appear in Chatty without manual action.
You can also trigger a manual sync anytime by clicking the Sync button. Manual sync is limited to 10 times per day.
The sync only includes published collections. Draft or hidden collections are not imported.
Viewing your collections
The Collections tab displays all synced collections in a table with:
- Title: the collection name from Shopify
- Description: the collection description
- Products: number of products in the collection
- Status: whether the collection is enabled or disabled for AI
- Actions: toggle or manage the collection
You can search by name and filter collections to find what you need.
Enabling or disabling collections
You control which collections AI can reference when answering customers.
To enable or disable a collection:
- Go to AI Assistant → Training Data → Collections
- Find the collection you want to manage
- Toggle the status to Enabled or Disabled
- Enabled: AI can use this collection when responding to customers
- Disabled: AI will not reference this collection
Your toggle settings are preserved across syncs. If a collection is disabled, it stays disabled after the next daily sync.
What AI can do with collections
Once collections are enabled, AI can handle these customer interactions:
- List collections: "What categories do you have?" or "Show me your collections"
- View products in a collection: "What's in your Summer Sale?" or "Show me New Arrivals"
- Suggest a collection: "I'm looking for gifts" → AI suggests your "Gift Ideas" collection
- Share collection info: "Tell me about your organic line" → AI shares title, description, and product count
